  • Melton Rural North Priorities Update

    Alert message sent 01/03/2021 17:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

    Dear Residents

This month our priorities have remained the same and work has continued in these areas as well as attending other incidents and reports of crime. The rural north priorities are:

    Priority 1 – Road Safety
    Priority 2 – Rural Crime/ Farm Thefts
Priority 3 – Nuisance off Roading.

To address priority 1 I have received support from Neighbourhood Priority Officers (NPO’s). The main function of this team is to attend and respond to grade 1 (emergency 15 minute response) and grade 2 (priority 60 minute response) incidents and also manage their own crime investigations that have been allocated to them. The response area covers the Melton Borough and Rutland. During times they are not carrying out the activity mentioned above they support the beat teams across Melton and Rutland with their priorities, which there are 9 beat areas with up to 3 priorities each. The following activity has taken place:

02/02 Traffic Calming Colston Lane, Harby 17:30-18:00
02/02 15:30-17:00 NPO’s completed Weight limit enforcement between Harby & WOTW, 1 traffic offence report issued in Harby to a flat bed loader.
13/02 Weight restriction monitoring in Harby 16:10-16:35 no HGV’s
    17/02 Weight Restriction Monitoring in Harby 15:40-16:00 – 3 HGV’s

There have been reports that motorcyclists have been out in the Buckminster area the last 2 weekends not obeying the speed limits and possibly in breach of current covid regulations. I plan to spend some time here at the weekends speed monitoring and will also ask for support from NPO’s.

Officers also attended a report of nuisance bikes in Stonesby and completed an area search on Saturday 21st. If you witness any misuse of footpaths and by-ways please report it to us.

Our priorities are set using data from our crime and incident recording systems along with results from surveys from this neighbourhood link system. Please encourage friends, family and neighbours to sign up and complete a survey.

We know the vast majority are sticking to the current Covid regulations and we thank you for that. The road map has been set out, please keep to the current guidelines and hopefully we will soon see each step come to fruition.

    Kind Regards

    PCSO Claire Gray 6541
