Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

The local community of Countesthorpe have brought to our attention what concerns them the most in the village, one of these concerns was inconsiderate parking on pavements.

    You said we did…

Today PC Ian Wardle has been out on the beat targeting vehicles that cause unnecessary obstruction of the highway. The beat team have being trying to warn people of the dangers of parking on the pavements and how this effects the pedestrians that have to walk into the road to get around these badly parked vehicles. The work that has been carried out seems to have paid off and there was only one vehicle that was seen causing a problem and a warning letter was issued.

The Police can only issues fines to vehicles that cause unnecessary obstruction of the highway, but the Council Wardens have the power to enforce all the other parking offences such as parking on double yellow lines.

Thank you for the support from the local community and if you want the beat team to know what is concerning you please sign up to Neighbourhood Link or get in contact with the Beat Team.

One of the other concerns raised by you was speeding through the village, and the beat team will be out this week with the speed gun to reassure you that we do listen to your concerns.
