Prize time

We are giving away two crime prevention packs to Neighbourhood Link members in Burbage. One will go to an existing member and the other to a member that signs up this week. Please encourage your friends, family and neighbours to sign up for a chance to win.

Not in Burbage BUT please be aware that in other areas of Leicestershire FORD FOCUS ST/RS and FIESTA ST/RS are being targeted for keyless entry of vehicle theft.
Please ensure you have a signal blocker wallet (available from me for £2 each sold at cost) or you can buy online. Also please consider steering locks, driveway bollards or simply blocking the vehicle in if you have a second vehicle.

Report of suspicious male attempting to take a dog lead from a resident around Britannia Road jitty area through to Lutterworth Road on 03/02/2021 at around 17:00. Investigations ongoing but if you have any information around this incident please get in touch. Crime number 21000070924

Scam alerts this week from residents

"I thought I would let you know of a scam HMRC and Arrest phone mail this am at 0852am from 01615186***. Demanding money or immediate arrest.
Just put the phone down. I hope this helps"

"Not sure if this has been reported previously but I received a scam phone call yesterday.
Reportedly from Amazon saying the order I had placed for an iPhone 7 was on its way and my account would be debited £399. If I hadn’t made the order press 1. I hung up Number call came from was 0013036958***"

We have been completing work in areas such as East and West Close, John’s Close and Maple Close. This work includes leaflet drops around door to door callers, home security and online scams. Hopefully the awareness raised will reduce future victims of crime.

We have received complaints from residents around dog/human waste being left on the floor. Areas include the Sketchley area and Hinckley Road Park. I have contacted some local businesses to get support in challenging the concerns raised. Please also consider CCTV or signage on your property if you find this to be a problem where you live. Dog fouling and penalties

It is an offence to allow your dog to foul in any public place and not clean it up. The fine for this offence - Breach of Public Spaces Protection Order - is: £100 (reduction for early payment if paid within 14 days: £80) (S67 Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014).
The council can also issue a fine if a witness statement is provided by a member of the community. Reports must be passed to the Clean Neighbourhoods Team to investigate. In nearly all cases the witness will remain anonymous whilst action can be taken against the offenders.
It is not a defence to claim that you had nothing with you to clean up the mess.
The law does not apply to guide dogs for the blind.
