  • 5 Charged for Hare Coursing

    Alert message sent 03/02/2021 08:47:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Five males, two from Nottinghamshire and three from Leicestershire, have been charged for Hare Coursing in Melton Mowbray on 3rd January 2021.

The males were seen on private land hunting wild animals with dogs, before being swiftly apprehended and arrested by Police Officers.

Covid Fixed Penalty Notices were issued also.

This has been an excellent display of teamwork by all involved, from start to finish and that has enabled us to get the case to charging.

To some people, this may seem like a minor offence, however to others it has a significant impact in our rural communities. We are delighted that we have been able to take some positive action and hopefully this sends out a very clear message that we take this type of crime seriously.

**The persons in this post have been charged with an offence(s) and will be appearing in court. Nothing should be posted that could prejudice upcoming proceedings and care should be taken over any comment made.**
