Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

    Hello Citizen,

PCSO 6656 Will Berridge here! This is the Melton Town North Beat, Neighbourhood Policing Monthly Newsletter and Priorities Update email.

Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you for continuously sticking to the COVID-19 regulations throughout the previous tier 4 restrictions and into our current situation with another lockdown. Thankfully, we have not had to attend many COVID breaches in the last month on the Town North Beat specifically and that’s all down to your continuous co-operation and sacrifice during this pressing time, we are very grateful.

    Notable updates to pass on:

A male has been arrested and charged for a number of bilking’s in the Melton area, we are very happy with this outcome and are continuing to keep a close eye on the locations involved.

    Priorities Update:

The biggest concern raised to us through consultations and Neighbourhood Link Surveys continues to be Anti-Social Behaviour.

Unfortunately ASB reports have risen slightly over the previous month but I am delighted to inform you that the Neighbourhood Beat Team have dealt with the offenders in the appropriate manner, offering a number of wise words and a community resolution.

The beat team have been working hard to investigate these instances of ASB, having spoken to a number of youths that have been involved with committing these acts of ASB and conducted home visits to discuss their behaviour as well as issuing a number of ASB warning letters and banning letters. Regular patrols are being conducted to null the issue in these current hotspots.

We fully appreciate the negative impact ASB has on those it effects, so please don’t hesitate to report ASB to the Police online via https://www.leics.police.uk/, or by calling the Police on 101, (always 999 in an emergency).

Another of our local priorities raised by yourselves has been Drug Taking and Drug Dealing.

The local beat team have been organising and carrying out regular foot and vehicle patrols around the specific locations and officers are continuing to stop search those individuals we believe to be causing the community the most harm, in the areas that we have received information for.

Officers have issued a Section 8 Misuse Drugs Act Warning to an occupant on the beat. Issuing a notice such as this one to a vulnerable tenant allows us to put in place the appropriate support and care to the individual and allows other agencies to get involved, to provide the best care needed in the effort to cease the drug activity happening at the address.

A male from the Leicester area was also arrested for Possession With Intent to Supply, finding the male in the possession of a quantity of class A drugs, after a short foot chase by PC Will O’Rourke and PCSO Jake Spruce.

We need your help to bring offenders to justice, therefore we are urging anyone to report any information known about the supply of drugs to us by calling 101, or via our Facebook or Twitter accounts. You can also report information to us completely anonymously via Crime Stoppers online, or over the phone, their website is www.crimestoppers-uk.org/ and their phone number is 0800 555 111.

Our last and equally important concern is Road Safety.

Officers are responding to your concerns of speeding by monitoring traffic in marked vehicles and making use of the speed gun.

A number of vehicles have been seized due to no insurance and no MOT, across Melton, one of these being on Thorpe Road, a road we have been continuously monitoring for speeding.

Words of advice have also been given to a driver that’s potentially a subject of complaints from residents regarding a loud vehicle, the driver was co-operative and officers are continually monitoring the situation at the location of the complaints.

We will continue to work with our Safer Roads Team to conduct speed monitoring and enforcement whenever possible. If you have any roads that you think are particularly concerning on the Town North Beat for speeding, please reply to this message using the button below with the road name and the worst days and times.
