Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police
Hello Citizen ,
PCSO 6049 Jake Spruce here. This is the Melton Town North Beat, Neighbourhood Policing Monthly Update email.
Please find attached at the bottom of this email on the link, the Melton Mowbray General Policing Newsletter for the whole Melton Borough. As always though, I like to give you on the Melton Town North a bit more of a personal touch.
This month we have welcomed two new members to the Town North Team! PC 4410 Ryan Hill is the Town North’s Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer and PCSO 6676 Emma Prothero is a new student officer being trained on the Town North Beat.
Following consultations with residents of the Melton Town North through Neighbourhood Link, (www.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk), the biggest concern raised was Anti-Social Behaviour.
The positive news is that ASB reports dropped again into October from the previous month. However, we are now around the average number of reports for ASB from the previous year’s data.
The beat team are working hard with our partner agencies to continue this downward trend we are on. We are aiming to bring this below average in the next couple of months, as we fully appreciate the negative impact it has on those it effects.
The Melton Town North Team along with Housing and Tenancy Enforcement Officers from Melton Borough Council conducted a joint patch walk around the Drummond Walk and Dieppe Way area in November. We spoke with many local residents about their concerns and any issues they were experiencing. We also were able to have a really good discussion about what partnership working we can do to in the area.
Notably, the start of November has seen some ASB being committed at the derelict Church Building on Welby Lane. The beat team are working hard to identify perpetrators and deter this issue. We will continue to tackle any ASB across the whole beat and we encourage you to report any issues to us online via www.leics.police.uk, or by calling the Police on 101 (always 999 in an emergency).
The next biggest concern you have raised is Drug Dealing and Drug Taking.
Drug offences have increased on the Town North Beat, however this is a positive thing. This shows that we are successfully identifying those individuals in the community who are partaking in this activity and we are catching them, (hence the increase in recorded offences).
Most recently to tackle drug dealing, we have executed a warrant at an address in November recovering a quantity of Class A Drugs. As well as this, officers are continuing to stop search those individuals we believe to be causing the community the most harm, in the areas that we have received information for.
On the first weekend of October, the Neighbourhood Priority Team stopped two males on the Town North Beat, quickly identified that they were involved in the supply of Class A Drugs and swiftly apprehended them. During a search a significant amount of class A was recovered, so both males were arrested for drug related offences. This is a really good result and showed what can happen if community intelligence is given to the Police.
We urge anyone to report any information known about the supply of drugs to us by calling 101, or via our Facebook or Twitter accounts. You can also report information to us completely anonymously via Crime Stoppers online, or over the phone, their website is www.crimestoppers-uk.org/ and their phone number is 0800 555 111.
The last and still very important concern you have raised is Road Safety.
We have recently conducted speed monitoring on Nottingham Road, Scalford Road, Thorpe Road and Welby Lane in response to concerns raised by local residents. Most recently the Road Safety department have been out in the speed van on Nottingham Road in November, results will follow soon.
We will continue to work with our Safer Roads Team to conduct speed monitoring and enforcement whenever possible. If you have any roads not already mentioned above, that you think are particularly concerning on the Town North Beat, please reply to this message using the button below with the road name and the worst days and times.
