Anti-Social Behaviour Update and Eggs

Today I have visited all of the stores that supply eggs on the Town North Beat.

I have spoken with their store managers and supplied them with a laminated poster for them to put up, advising against the sale of eggs to youths.

This is in response to reports of eggs being thrown yesterday evening, as well as trying to put preventative measures in place during the run up to Halloween.

I would like to keep egging incidents this October and November to a minimum, as part of a wider plan to reduce ASB on the beat, as per my monthly priorities update earlier this month.

If you have children that go out with their friends in the evening, please advise them around throwing eggs and not to participate in this activity.

Eggs cause criminal damage to people’s properties and vehicles on impact, which can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds, but also if it is not washed off quickly, the acidic liquid of the egg can erode certain materials.

Please advise your children that these incidents do get reported to the Police, they will be investigated and perpetrators dealt with accordingly.

If you are a victim of an egging incident, please report it to the Police by calling 101.

Always call 999 in an emergency.
