    #YouSaidWeDid

    Dear resident,

Thank you for completing our recent survey about priorities for policing in your local area. We had an excellent response. Your feedback has helped us identify particular areas of focus on this beat. They are:

    • You said - Anti-social behaviour (ASB).
We did – Local officers have been patrolling various locations considered ASB hotspots, including local parks and the shopping precinct. These patrols have been conducted following your concerns and also to provide some additional reassurance regarding the Covid rules and regulations. The vast majority of individuals have been behaving themselves and there is nothing significant to report at this time.
Local police were also made aware of a derelict caravan on a private car park in Whetstone. This appeared to be attracting youths to the area where we received complaints of noise and drug/alcohol use. As a result of this concern, police and local housing worked together to remove the caravan and provide reassurance in the locality. The caravan has since been removed which is hoped will now deter local youths from re-attending the location.

    • You said - Road safety.
We did – Local officers have completed traffic calming measures on various main roads in Blaby. Uniformed officers in marked vehicles completed this process by being visually present at speed hotspot locations.
Further speed reduction events at various locations are planned for November, utilising our police volunteers and special constables.
Local police will also be present at schools during key times throughout the school day to ensure individuals are both driving and parking appropriately and responsibly.

    • You said - Vehicle crime.
We did – Vehicle crime, namely theft from motor vehicles, remains a concern for local residents. Local officers have been completing crime pattern reviews to ensure patrols are completed at the right locations during key times. At present there are no concerning patterns to report.
Local police will be available to offer crime prevention advice at our local community engagement events. Further information will also be available on our social media pages.
The month of November sees the ‘darker nights’ campaign commence which will be promoted in due course but sees local officers completing proactive patrols in the areas you live and targeting those who cause the community most harm.

    • You said - Nuisance motorbikes.
We did - This priority is often linked to general ASB and local officers are aware of this ongoing issue. In attempt to both identify and take positive action against those who cause a nuisance, patrols have been completed throughout the month at the park locations. S59 warning signs are in place at key hotspot locations, allowing police to seize bikes immediately from anyone involved in this unwanted behaviour. Patrols throughout October have been positive with no issues to report.

What you have told us has helped shape our priorities for this beat. My colleagues and I will continue to keep you up to date on our progress. You can also follow what we are doing at Blaby Police on Facebook and Twitter.

If you have any further feedback, questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to get in contact or say hello when you see us on the street. Our next surgery/ event is at the Co-op, Cosby on 21/11/20 between 1130-1230 hours and we would very much like to see you there.
Of course, please remember you can report crime online at www.leics.police.uk or call 101. Please dial 999 in an emergency.

Thank you again for your support.

    Your beat officers,

PS Goldsmith, PC Uppal, PCSO Malik and PCSO Stevenson.
