    #YouSaidWeDid

    Dear resident,

Thank you for completing our recent survey about priorities for policing in your local area. We had an excellent response. Your feedback has helped us identify particular areas of focus on this beat. They are:

    • You said - Anti-social behaviour (ASB).
We did – Local police have been notified of several reports of fly-tipping at park locations in Braunstone Town. As a result we have been patrolling these hotspots at key times and are working alongside the Blaby District Council to ensure those responsible are identified. Signs have also been placed in several locations reminding individuals of their responsibilities around littering.
Local officers have also been responding to and pro-actively visiting addresses of concern which have previously been linked to ASB reports. Residents have been spoken to and no significant concerns have been raised at this time.

    • You said - Road safety.
We did – Local police have been out and about at the various schools across Braunstone Town and Thorpe Astley, ensuring individuals are both driving and parking appropriately around key school times. We are fully aware of the issues this creates for local residents and ask that everyone be respectful in their behaviours.
Local officers have also identified several speeding hotspots and have visited these during periods of ‘downtime’. Further speed reduction events at various locations on Thorpe Astley and Braunstone Town are planned for November, utilising our police volunteers and special constables.

    • You said - Vehicle crime.
We did – Spikes in vehicle crime (predominantly theft from motor vehicles) was noted in the locality of the Kingsway and Narborough Road South areas of Braunstone Town. As a result, a message was sent to all relevant residents on Neighbourhood Link making them aware of this and asking them to be extra vigilant.
Proactive patrols were also completed in the area, both by uniformed and plain clothed officers. This continues to take place and will run into November and form part of our ‘darker nights’ campaign which will be promoted on our social media pages.
A recent arrest has been completed in relation to the above increase in crime and a bigger intelligence picture is also being developed. At present these enquiries sit with our local investigation team for progression.

    • You said - Nuisance motorbikes.
We did – This priority is often linked to general ASB and local officers are aware of this ongoing issue. In attempt to both identify and take positive action against those who cause a nuisance, patrols have been completed throughout the month at the park locations on Braunstone Town. S59 warning signs have also been erected at key hotspot locations, allowing police to seize bikes immediately from anyone involved in this unwanted behaviour. Patrols throughout October have been positive with no issues to report.

What you have told us has helped shape our priorities for this beat. My colleagues and I will continue to keep you up to date on our progress. You can also follow what we are doing at Blaby Police on Facebook and Twitter.

If you have any further feedback, questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to get in contact or say hello when you see us on the street. Our next surgery/ event is this Saturday (24th) at the Thorpe Astley Community Centre, Thorpe Astley between 1100-1200 hours and we would very much like to see you there.
Of course, please remember you can report crime online at www.leics.police.uk or call 101. Please dial 999 in an emergency.

Thank you again for your support.

    Your beat officers,

PS Goldsmith, PC Morris, PC Clough, PCSO Hall and PCSO Wright.
